MARINA ABRAMOVIC is planning to launch an Art Institute all of her own. Her stated mission is:
<<MARINA ABRAMOVIC INSTITUTE IS DEDICATED TO THE PRESENTATION AND PRESERVATION OF LONG DURATIONAL WORK INCLUDING THAT OF PERFORMANCE ART, DANCE, THEATER, FILM, MUSIC, OPERA, AND OTHER FORMS THAT MAY DEVELOP IN THE FUTURE>>
The above is, of course, very much what the Linveco Cultural Foundation does – support multi-disciplinary creative talent. We wonder if Lady Gaga would walk the extra mile for LCF too?
Cork Street, the much loved and iconic art gallery district of London, is to close shop – quite literally.
We hear that Westminster Council has approved an application to turn it into yet another shopping street, selling expensive bags and other “luxury articles” for the well-heeled.
A sad day for art and independent gallerists – and for London whose landscape has changed so dramatically over the past decade. Some of the new developments evoke Prince Charles’ carbuncle quote in their ultra-high end ugliness.
